Wounds : reclaimed

by Ulva

Nate Collins This release is equal parts unique, brutal, and beautiful. Explosively powerful stuff!

I first heard this via the Antifascist Black Metal Network's YouTube channel, and have since streamed it so loudly and so many times that I think I might have thoroughly alienated myself from my next door neighbours.

1.
An absence of passion or a weakness in expression. Constantly laying between. Aching to clarify the misconception. Justifying the projection or looking for an excuse. Is the answer personal or a need for acceptance? Are we looking to be loved or understood? There's always a choice and it's ours. The beauty and the burden.
2.
There's red in the sky. Universe commemorates another lost day. The blinding pain of a fresh loss. Bad choices are here to collect. Another exhausting fight, an aching repetition. One more drink that failed to wash away the shame. Days give way to days. We watch in distance, begging to feel the rush again, like we used to. The greatest trick they ever pulled of was convincing us we couldn't change. There is power in letting people down. We are their greatest disappointment and that's our liberation.
3.
We move on tracks and scattered ideas posing as a system when unified. They fade with time, so we had to invent tradition. Our patternal behaviours always meet with past mistakes never owned. We always fed on the pain and glorified the downfall. We know better than that. There's nothing poetic in darkness. There's nothing real in repetition. Honesty is epic and so is change.
4.
We were never here to qritique. All we can afford is an understanding. The division is political. A parade of images, carefully placed and heavily projected are waiting for our view. The conclusions are already drawn, meant to be perceived as our own. We can't reject an idea that was ours all along. This is their bet and the chances are against us. The pedestal is privilege. Bringing it down is survival.
5.
The glass broke. The once great figures shattered. Broken pieces put back together, glued by oppression. All our idols are posing again, but now we see through the cracks. The narrative must change. Our voices will be heard. Let's kill our heroes, burn our flags and destroy our statues. We found each other. It is our time
6.
All the cities have fallen. Everything is so quiet, bloodless elegance. The silence seems louder than citynoise. Past mistakes are still present. Delegation failed. Responsibilities shifted. We have to carry the weight of the world. It was always in our hands. Only people can save the people. We'll make our own promises.
